Help Needed In Finding Family's Lost Cat Named Mickey

Posted on 06:20 by tony

I was contacted this morning with a picture of a lost male cat named Mickey.  Mickey has all of his shots and has a micro-chip. He has distinctive markings (white patch) on his chest and has green eyes.

The family who submitted the request would appreciate any help from the community in finding their pet. I'm not sure of the location where it was lost, but be on the look out.  The family can

Media in Two Minutes

I want to take a few seconds to briefly address the outcry a few people had with the upcoming demolition of E. 5th Street.  This property was bought by a family who after much consideration, did not feel it salvageable in it's current state.  In turn, they've decided to build a new home modeled after the existing structure.  I not only think it's a good idea and prudent,

Posted on 07:32 by tony
As reported by the Daily Times this week, Delaware County is doing quite well when it comes to park and recreation services.  As stated below, we have the second best access in the state to parks and recreation.

Delaware County residents have the second-best access to locations
for physical activity. About 95 percent of residents have adequate
access to a park or recreational facility.

The Passing of Media local, Dr. Bill Lucas

Posted on 12:43 by tony

March 7, 1962 - March 25, 2014

It's with a heavy heart to share with the community the passing of Media local, Dr. Bill Lucas on March 25th.  I knew Bill and often saw him on State Street from time to time.  He was not only a well liked resident, but a very interesting person who was an expert in his field of virology technology.  He also had a BBQ business that was easily the best smoked

Media's Solar Parking Meter Disaster - Borough Council Didn't Properly Plan for Lack of Sun

Posted on 04:16 by tony

Sun setting (literally) on Media's Solar Parking Meters!

Borough taxpayers will not be happy to hear that the effort by Media Borough Council to install solar powered, credit card acceptable parking meters is quietly being phased out.  The problem here is that the lack of sun on the south side of State Street does not provide nearly enough solar energy to keep the batteries charged.  In fact,

Media in Two Minutes

Wow, spring has sprung! Maybe not quite the weather yet, but there is a lot going on and even more about to begin.  I'll do the best I can to make it short this week.

Before we begin, I want to let the community know that I contacted the Media Police on Friday about a very serious matter that was brought to my attention.  I'm still waiting to get further clarification,

This year's pothole catastrophe due to the harsh winter has been unprecedented.  You don't need me to tell you that, but what I can share is that County Chairman, Tom McGarrigle  of Delaware County Council announced that approximately $250,000 will be distributed to the 49 county municipalities through a program called the Pothole Assistance for Taxpayers program.  More work will still need

John's Grille in Media, PA - An Imminent Sale will Write The Final Chapter

Posted on 04:30 by tony
The final chapter is about to be written on Media's oldest bar, John's Grille and I really dislike the whole thought of having to say "good-bye."  What's made me come to this realization is the imminent sale of the bar/building that may be announced very soon.  I suspect the new owner will have plans that even if slight, still won't capture the character of what once was.  I can deal with that,

The Problem with The Traffic Light at State and N. Orange Streets

Posted on 13:18 by tony

If the following scene is frustratingly familiar to you, then you know all too well that this traffic light at the intersection of W. State Street and N. Orange was never properly synchronized when installed over a year ago.  In fact, you may know this issue so well that you’ve seen people ignore the red light and drive right through it, as someone pointed out to me this week.  Yes, it does
